ISSS 2011 - Call for Abstracts

Dear ISSS 2009 Participants and Colleagues of the International Society for Skiing Safety,

Colleagues and friends - please find attached the 2nd Announcement of 19th ISSS Congress to be held May 1 – May 7, 2011, at the Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colorado, USA. 

Congress Information

The information in the 2nd Announcement about the Congress is also posted on the official Congress website http://isss2011.isssweb.com, including program information, abstract submission guidelines, social program information, and costs.  Information regarding the International Society for Skiing Safety can be found at http://www.isssweb.com including membership information.  On-line registration will open 5 January 2011.

Abstract Submission

Please submit your abstract via the Congress website http://isss2011.isssweb.com, The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to 5 January 2011.  We will finalize the program and schedule once all abstracts have been reviewed in mid-January by the Scientific Committee. 

Membership Information – PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING ISSS!

Thank you to those who have renewed your membership!  You can become an ISSS member for the period April 2010-March 2012 by going to http://www.isssweb.com/payment.php.  The easiest method is via credit card on the website.  Members receive a significant discount on registration for ISSS 2011, as well as a free copy of the ASTM STP that will be published following the ISSS 2011 Congress.

ASTM STP from 2009 Meeting

ASTM is currently printing STP 1525 that includes peer-reviewed papers submitted following the ISSS 2009 Congress in Germany.  All members who were current with their dues for the period 1 April 2008- 31 March 2010 will receive a free copy of this book, which will be mailed directly to members in early 2011 and in advance of the Keystone Congress.

NOTE: Those who have joined as ISSS members for the 1st time since 1 April 2010 will not receive ASTM STP 1525 from the 2009 ISSS Congress free.  You will, however, receive free the STP that will be published after the Keystone Congress.

NOTE: We will have a limited number of copies of STP 1525 available for sale in Keystone.  If you know you want to purchase a copy, please let us know via email and we will organize a list in advance.  The price will be approximately US$50

We welcome your comments and thoughts about ISSS 2011.  Please share this announcement with your friends and colleagues, and we hope that you will save the dates May 1-7 in Keystone, Colorado.  Skiing and riding will be available at nearby Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, which will most certainly be open and ready for our group!

Davidof, do you know any speakers at isss2011? The programme is mainly an outline of ‘when’ but not ‘what’. Will avalanche safety be a major topic, or is the focus more on knees, head injuries, etc?
