Thursday and I called Anny for a Chamchaude “express”. I had 3 hours while the wee’un was at school and the sun had come out. I met Anny at the teleski de Chamchaude parking and we quickly set out. After a few minutes Anny asked “I hope you are not going to continue at this speed all the way to the top?”.

Well, yes I was. I had to be back at the school at 4.30pm. We made good progress and climbed the 850 meters in about 1h15. Not too shabby. There was around 30cm of fresh snow on a firm base but close to the ridgeline the snow cover was thin and we scraped a few rocks over the first few meters.

Anny has some new stiffer boots and was skiing really well

The snow got a bit choppy lower down where the skiers were concentrated but overall the conditions were very good.

Anny again, not quite needing a snorkel but not bad

Job done, even got back to pick the Tot up at school.
