Round Ireland with a Fridge might be a cult piece of modern litterature, but what about “Around the Swiss Alps with a Jacuzzi”?

If you’ve ever been tempted to finish a hard day’s ski touring with a plunge into a steaming hot jacuzzi you are not alone. But Swiss skiers Pierre Fridez, Nicolas Weibel and Jean-christophe Boillat went one better. Carrying a portable propane powered Jacuzzi to the summit of the 4000 meter Allalinhorn.

Each skier had a pack weighing 20 kgs. After a fantastic climb on skins they found the ideal panoramic spot where they set up their jacuzzi under the astounded gaze of other climbers. After a couple of hours enjoying the water heated to 40°C there was time for a quick role in the snow, Baltic style and a ski descent of the Mittel-Allali. Nice.
