Heavy snow through to Monday in the Northern Alps accompanied by strong north-west winds have lead Meteo France to issue an avalanche warning of Considerable to High.

They are expecting 50-60cm of snow in the Haute Savoie and North of teh Savoie and 30-40cm in the Isere. The combination of snow and wind will form new slabs resting on unstable layers. MF have advised people to avoid venturing into the high mountains over the weekend.
