The fat lady may be puffing up her lungs but she hasn’t yet sung. With fresh snow down to 1800 meters on Tue/Wed and 15cm at 2500m it looked like a good opportunity to get in some last turns.

So it was off to the North facing Sept Laux back bowls which hold their snow late into the spring.

“snowline” - well some old avalanche fields, was down to 1800m, so from the trailhead at 1688 that meant only 120 D+ of portage, well and a long half hour traverse

The weather has been unsettled and the climb was in low cloud, this was as clear as it got on the ascent

but I was banking on the cloud lifting around 8pm as it got a bit cooler

looking across at the Badon, Blanc and Pyramide, a few seconds earlier this had been in cloud

The cabottes ridgeline which I’d done a few years ago with Timothee and Isa

Skiing off the summit a little before 9pm, the sun was getting low and time to hurry, largely because as the slopes passed into shade they immediately formed a crust

Job done, or nearly. I got back to the car at 9h45.
