Around midday, ski mountaineer, Stéphane Brosse was killed on the Aiguille d’Argentière in the Mont Blanc range after a cornice collapse. He was with Kilian Jornet at the time. The pair were attempting to traverse the Mont Blanc in 2 days.

3 times gold medal winner at the ski mountaineering world championships, 40 year old Brosse holds the record for Mont Blanc with Pierre Gignoux. On the 30th May 2007 they climbed Mont Blanc in 5h 15’ 47” (4h 7’ for the climb and 1h 7’ for the descent on skis (North Face in 7 minutes! )) from the church in Chamonix.
