Tour Du Cret Luisard

Hiking -> Routes -> Belledonne -> Tour Du Cret Luisard

Description

From the ski du fond foyer (closed in the summer) follow the forest route to the south, after 150 meters there is a cross-roads with the Tour du Balcons des Sept Laux trail. Follow this to the left (south-east) up the hill, at the Chalet de Pierre Rouchet take the right fork on a narrow trail that climbs steeply up through some stubby woodland to reach the ridgeline at point 1774 meters. Here a good track follows the ridge north north-east past a series of lakes to reach the refuge du Cret du Poulet. The refuge is open through to the end of September and at weekends in October however if you want to east we advise booking on the morning or the day before. We suggest you try the l'Omlette des Alpage and half bottle of Apremont. The homemade desserts, especially the tarte aux Prunes, are to die for.

From the refuge follow the unsurface road to the south-west to return to the ski du fond foyer. About 45 minutes or 3km. A good way to work off lunch.

The lakes on the ridgeline (lac de la Belle Aiguette etc) are very important biotopes and we saw newts, dragon-flies and many insects during our visit.

Comments

The start to August had been cold with snow to 1800 meters. There was snow on Aiguilles d'Argentiere and the Rocher Blanc but now it had become much warmer. This is a wonderful walk through some fantastic landscapes with views of the mountains of the Sept Laux and Allevard. The refuge du Poulet is a must.
