Created on: 17-Dec-2015 by davidof
Aspect: North
Difficulty: 3
Equipment: Good hiking shoes. Crampons for the Pas de l'Oeille when there is snow on the ground. Remarks: The principle section is below the Pas de l'oeille. A cable allows a small step to be climbed but the rocks are very polished in places making things slippy.

From the Col du Coq parking 150 meters before the col itself climb the path to the Col des Ayes then take a zig-zag path below the cliffs of the Dent de Crolles.

Follow the path to the south-east below the cliffs to find a weakness in the cliff walks. Climb a small gorge that opens onto a terrace. Climb up to a small step followed by another traverse then a scramble up past the Oeille - a large obelisk. Take care not to dislodge stones on those climbing below.

Road Access

Grenoble > between Saint Ismier and Bernin take the D30 signposted Saint Pancrasse. After a tunnel take a left to the Col du Coq. The road is close after the village of le Baure in winter.
