Description

Despite three snow episodes (dumps as they are called on the anglo fora) over the last week the conditions are not great and a couple of days of foehn could wipe out any gains. Meteo France says that nearly a meter has fallen on the Chartreuse, and yet, there is possible 50cm near the summit of the Chamechaude, the highest point in the mountain range and 25cm (measured) at 1650 meters.

Rocks are only just covered and you have to ski lightly and with a lot of awareness the whole time. Where there has been some traffic the snow is already back down to the ground in places.

Weather: Low cloud, obscured sun. 1C at the col.

Access: Some snow after le Sappey but ok on normal tires.
