I couldn't believe le Sappey would still be open. It had rained to 2500 meters and we'd had warm storm force winds for days. I still had my doubts at the car park. What had been white ski runs on Saturday were now green but I picked up a snow covered trail just above the lift office and the pistes were really good from around the foot of the climb. I stopped at the col rather than pushing all the way on to Emeindras. The ski down was a bit slow although using the tracks helped. Still suffering from a bad back, achy left knee and now a sore ankle !
12C at the car park with a warm foehn type wind. It looks pretty blitzed at the start: ice, running water, puddles, mud but was pretty good from 1030 meters, that is the start of the climb.
