Chambéry Airport

Ski-Areas > Chambéry Airport

Built to serve the 1992 Winter Olympics Chambéry airport had trouble finding a role and was almost the private domain of Crystal Holidays, a UK package holiday company until the development of low cost airlines. Today it serves 9 destinations in the UK alone with over 700 flights during the 2005-6 winter. The airport is popular with skiers, it is just 100km from the Trois-Vallees ski area and is ideal for a weekend getaway. The drive can be done in around 90 minutes. There are speed cameras in the long road tunnel to the south of Chambéry on the autoroute (90km/h) limit and in the road tunnel as you leave Moutiers (80 km/h limit).
