The Option ARVA 8000 and Ortovox F1 Focus are examples of analogue transceivers. The Option 8000 has a loud speaker, earpiece socket and indicator LED. When switched on it gives a battery life OK signal. In search mode it emits a series of beeps the volume and duration giving an indication of the distance and direction of the victim. A gain control adjusts the sensitivity of the search and is important to distinguish between multiple victims.
