Primary Transceiver Search
Avalanches > Search and Rescue > Searching for Avalanche Victims > Primary Transceiver Search
The primary search consists of traversing the avalanche site until a signal is obtained. If the searcher is above the site this can start from a line horizontal with where the skier disappeared1. The distance between the search tracks should be around double that of the minimum range of the transceiver 2. Around 20 meters for a digital device. This will ensure that no part of the site is left un-searched. When a signal is obtained go to the secondary search 3.
