Technical

Minimum altitude: 1,281 meters

Distance: 10.4 km

Slope Aspect: North

Vertical Climbed: 231 meters (758 feet)

Vertical Descended: 227 meters

Description

After the 20cm of fresh snow the Col de Porte had reopened its nordic area at the Col. The snow was quite soft at midday and choppy with a few holes here or there. It will need a few cycles of preperation to because really skiable and climbing on the soft snow was quite hard at times. Still it was good for a lunch ski. There was an accident on the steep descent behind the col - a cross country skier was airlifted after medical treatment, it is a tricky descent if you go too fast and get it wrong.

Conditions

Soft, cut up snow. Cold but sunny and no wind.
