There is an old saying that if the snow conditions are uncertain you are better off classic skiing. Well after 24 hours of foehn wind things couldn't be more uncertain. The road to Charmant Som is completely skiable but there is not much snow in some places. Lots of people skating and ski touring. Skating looked ok but the snow could be described as "spring like". Overall good conditions especially the descent. Climb took 41 minutes on classic (PB for me is 35 minutes skating) so not a bad climb.
5-10cm of compact snow at the col. 10-20cm at the summit. Low cloud and zero viz out of the forest and a very strong north wind. Not particularly cold.
