Body of lone skier found after Bauges avalanche

The body of a lone ski tourer has been found in the col de Chérel sector in the Bauges mountain range in the Northern French Alps. He is the 5th fatality in avalanche incidents this week. The alert was raised when he failed to return home. Located using his avalanche beacon at around 23h on Thursday the rescue services were unable to recover his body until Friday morning due to the weather conditions. The search operation involved 30 members of the fire services. The avalanche risk was 3/5, principally wind slab on weak layers due to the foehn (storm force southerly) wind with a risk of remote triggering.
