Nordic Skiing: Col de Porte: Training Day 2 - 1,450 m. (4,757 ft)

Sat, 26 January 2019

Technical

Minimum altitude: 1,280 meters

Distance: 8 km

Slope Aspect: North

Vertical Climbed: 115 meters (377 feet)

Description

Second weekend of training with the SNC. Got promoted to a higher group, so instead of being a medium sized fish I'm now a minnow but the training is pushing me harder with downhill slaloms, races etc.

Conditions

Cold, -4C at 9am. You need cold wax on your skis to slide well. Now 70cm of snow depth at this altitude after recent fall. Col de Porte is very cold as it is the shadow of Chamechaude mountain until 11am. Roads were clear today on the south side of the col.
