Vertical Climbed: 271 meters (889 feet)
Vertical Descended: 268 meters
The ski clubs use the Murianette road for training - but they have a mini bus to collection them at le Pinet. I decided to give it a go descending on foot. The most obvious route seems to be the climb to Le Japin. 5km of climbing, 1.5km of descent. Around 40 minutes to climb and 20 minutes to walk back down giving an hour round trip.
As said, it is possible to push on to le Pinet or even Chamrousse (bus for the return trip, you can link Gieres to la Murianette by a surfaced bike path).
Warm in the sun, 27C. Sticky tarmac on the Japin road. Road a bit rough but not too bad in general but degrades after the crossroad to le Japin. Paths had some stinging nettles at the entrance and exit.
