Description

General Description

The climb is 14% over 5km for 700 meters of climbing. The climb through the village of Montebuglio is very steep but afterwards settles down to 12-13% with a series of steep ramps.  After Alpe Piana Ruei things get serious with 2.1km at 15% with some very steep ramps, the hurt continues past Alpe Rusa with only the final 3 hairpins at what seems an almost flat 10%. Climb early, despite the woods it is south east facing with lots of annoying flies in summer.

Trip Report

I didn't know if the road was surfaced after Alpe Rusa. Well it is but only just. The tar must have been laid years ago and the elements have worn it down leaving lots of stones bound by tar. At least the grip is pretty good and stops the rear wheel spinning!

Conditions

Already hot at 9am with a lot of biting insects just out of Montebuglio. Road surface is ok at first but pretty rough after Alpe Piana. Not a road to descend on a road bike. The descent to Gattugno is on a generally smooth road but very steep, be careful on the brakes.
