Description

Route

From St Honoré (1505m) follow the summer path. Be careful of the slopes to your right as there is a risk of avalanche/purges. Continue towards the Lac de Charlet, at Pt. 1849m (a small summit on your left) turn south-east via a small valley to pass through pt 2059m before heading NE to reach the summit ridge and the summit.

1. Direct North-West Couloir  (ski 3.3)

There is a short couloir directly from the summit (40° sur 150m) which you should see on your right when climbing. It is marked as a stream on the IGN map. Take care there are cliffs/rock bands either side of the couloir.

2. From Villard Saint Christophe (1240 V+, ski 2.1)

When the snow is good it is possible to start from le Villard Saint Christophe from the Ramet car park. Follow the summer trail to the east to reach forest road from St Honore, continue in a valley to the NW to join the path above.

Trip Report

First ski touring outing with Steve H. Very good weather with an impressive view from the summit. We followed the path at the start then a series of "false tops" to finally reach the summit. Spring snow on the descent. The Tibannes chair was running but there was not a lot of snow at St Honoré. We saw one other person, on snow shoes.

Conditions

Blue skies, spring weather and snow.
