With 355m of climbing the Col de Morêtel isn't that much of a challenge but is a welcome alternative to the main road and leads into the Belledonne back roads quite nicely. The descent through Morêtel les Mailles would be nicer with out Maginot line sized speed humps. The climb averages about 4.6% but there is a final km at over 11%. At Morêtel you can climb to le Vernay for an additional 235 meters for an average gradient of 10%. On a gravel bike you can ride further into the Brame Farine (cry of the wild animals) mountain.
