Nordic Skiing: Training #4 - 1,350 m. (4,429 ft)

Sat, 9 February 2019

Technical

Minimum altitude: 1,150 meters

Distance: 17.5 km

Slope Aspect: North

Vertical Climbed: 475 meters (1,558 feet)

Description

Today we were practicing hill climbing and some more telemark turns on the descent. Technique is to keep crown elbow high and plant the crown pole fairly vertical to get most force and finish with hands around the waist. Short glides are easier and we also practised putting a hop into the end of each stroke Dahlmeier style. Well that was the theory. Three of us finished with a ski half way down to st Hughe as the Coleo road was open.

Conditions

Very good skating conditions. A bit of debris on the descent to St Hughes but good snow depths now. Around zero degrees at the col, so not cold.
