Couloir Vallençant Chamonix

Fourth in Aurelien Ducroz' Cham-Lines series where he explores some of the well known couloirs of the Mont Blanc range. He's joined by FanFan (Stephane Dan) to ski the Couloir Vallençant which faces Argentiere. From the Grands Montets they have to cross the Argentiere glacier then a steep climb to the Col du Passon (3028m). The couloir is rarely in good condition but conditions have improved in Chamonix recently.

They are fortunate to take the tram with the ski patrol and are able to enter the couloir as soon as the avalanche control work is complete. The patrol explains that it is risk 3 with principally surface slabs of about 25 cm deep.
