Nordic Skiing: First Sappey of 2019 - 1,080 m. (3,543 ft)

Tue, 29 January 2019

Technical

Minimum altitude: 980 meters

Distance: 7.5 km

Slope Aspect: South

Vertical Climbed: 185 meters (607 feet)

Description

It has been a long time coming but the nearest ski area to work (about a quarter of an hour drive) has finally opened and with good initial conditions. The snow is still a little soft but will no doubt firm up over the coming days. Some of the descents were not pisted but climbs okay.

Conditions

Most trails were unpisted today except for a 4km figure of 8, enough for a couple of lunch laps. 20cm of fresh snow off piste, probably enough to fire up the alpine ski area this weekend. Main roads clear but village roads snow covered.
