I'd been thinking about this climb and the logistics. In the end I drove over the col and left a bike then parked at Tencin and climbed up on classic rollerskis. It is a pretty good climb, about 1h15 to climb up. 37m from the Theys cross roads. It has a mix of steep at the beginning but flatter in the mid section and end.
Road surface is good except for about 1km above les Hurtieres which is a bit rough.
