Description

Description

South east facing but quite a bit of shade as you climb through the woods. The climb to Alpe Ompio is 7km at 8% giving 550meters total from the village of Bieno. However it consists of a series of ramps and flats, ideal for those looking for a bit of interval training. The road through Bieno is steep and narrow. The main road from Verbania / lake Maggiore is very busy. There is a back road from Santino on the Verbania side but be warned that has a wall of around 20%.

Trip Report

Pleasant morning climb at the end of the holidays. The road doesn't really go anywhere and there isn't much of a view at the end.

Conditions

Cool in the morning. Road in generally good condition.
