The Italian ski and alpine boot maker Scarpa is beefing up its range of ski touring boots for the 2005-2006 ski season. Two new boots are on offer. The Tornado aimed squarely at the expanding backcountry freeride market and the Spirit 3 which slots in somewhere between the Matrix and Laser range.
The main feature os the Tornado is relatively light weight (3500 grams for size 42) in the Thermo liner version, a sole that works with both touring and downhill ski bindings and a four buckle design. This puts is up against the Garmont Adrenalin. The Spirit 3 adopts some of the Tornado’s technology to produce a 3300 gram ski touring boot with an accent on downhill performance.
