MF states that since the 28th of January cold has been replaced by unsettled weather. Over a few days a number of winter weather systems have hit the region with 100-150cm of fresh snow on a base of 50cm. Thre is 100cm at 600 meters. This snow was accompanied by winds of up to 120km/h from the west. These have created huge accumulations and windslab on the bowls and east facing couloirs on the edge of the range. A number of large avalanches have occured on the Hohneck and above the lac du Forlet. Some slopes are extremely dangerous.
