According to the British Guardian Newspaper Spain’s Catalonia region has started charging mountain climbers, skiers and other outdoor adventurers who get into trouble through negligence and need to be rescued. The paper suggests that an hour of helicopter time will cost €2,270 as well as €30 an hour for each rescuer called into action and €39 an hour per rescue vehicle.
Catalonia covers north-east Spain including part of teh Pyrenees mountains.
