Two climbers have been killed by an avalanche yesterday on the east face of the Grand Armet on the Cros de Quinchiol. An extensive rescue operation only found the bodies of the missing climbers this morning. The men, one a trainee guide, had set out yesterday morning. They had probably been taken by a slide somewhere on the upper section of the route then carried 800m down the couloir. The climb is a very difficult, consisting of five sections of mixed ice and rock climbing.
