Sentier Du Facteur

Hiking -> Routes -> Chartreuse -> Sentier Du Facteur

Description

Park at les Brondieres at the entrance to Crolles and climb to the north west on a gravel path. At the reservoir continue on the road to the colonie des vacances. Cross the Pont du Craponoz and continue on the right bank of the river to another set of reservoirs. The path climbs through wood land then traverses across to the river and the water falls visible from lower down. At around 600m you can follow a path to the left to a viewpoint above the falls. Otherwise continue to the climbing walls of the Rochers du Luisset - be careful about gear dropped by climbers on the rocks as you cross here. The track exits onto the Balcon des Petites Roches and the Chaumeilles.

Luisset as its origins in the word Huis - meaning door. The path follows a natural fault in the rocks.
Chaumeilles means Lande in old Dauphinois.

Trip Reports

20 June 2007

The Facteur is right behind my house so an obvious climb but by June it is too hot to climb at valley level and earlier I'm skiing. I was up at 6am and climbed the easier Pal de Fer?, traverse on the Balcon des Petites Roches? then descended by the Facteur. It is a rock path and you need stout boots. I cross a few people heading up looking like extras from the Lawrence of Arabia movie. Far too hot by late morning. -- davidof
