Dent De Crolles By The Pas Des Terreaux
Hiking -> Routes -> Chartreuse -> Dent De Crolles by the Pas Des Terreaux
Description
Park at point 1048 meters. Take the path that climbs to the north-west directly out of the village which passes to the right of a concrete reservoir. At 1288 meters the track crosses a path coming from the CMC des Petites Roches. Follow this to the Cabane de Berger. The track doubles back to the south-west and turns into a footpath. There are some old red/yellow markings dating from the time when this was a GR trail. The path passes under the south rampart of the Dent des Crolles by the Pas des Terreaux before climbing above la Gorgette to join the south-west face of the Dent des Crolles. Here it is possible to join the summit by the Pas d'Oeil.
Dent de Crolles from le Neyroud
Return is possible by a path that follows the south-east edge of the Dent de Crolles to the right of the Habert des Ayes (ruins). This joins the Col du Coq road on a left hand hairpin at 1240 meters. Turn left to follow the Tour des Petites Roches trail to le Neyroud.
The path is narrow in places
The track is not particularly difficult but is very narrow and exposed in places. It should not be undertaken in wet or damp conditions.

Trip Reports
1st July 2007
A sunny day I made a good start at 7.30am. The climb to the Cabane de Berger is easy. The track afterwards is clear but very narrow and exposed in 3 or 4 places, particuarly above la Gorgette. There is the risk of rockfall at the pas de Terreaux. Saw two troups of chamois. I didn't climb to the Dent de Crolles for time reasons.
