Annual trip to the Grand Rocher mountain on cross country skis. The summit is reached via a series of 3 plateaux then a ridge line.

Traditional spring afterwork for when the clocks change. It was very windy, even at the col. I went all the way to the summit but could barely stand up and didn't hang around except for a quick photo.

A short morning alpine ski, fairly relaxed trying some longer runs from top to bottom - 500 to 600 meters skiing as the lifts were running quickly and no-one was around.

First ride since my accident on the Madeleine. I was pleased to be able to stand up when necessary. I'm 4kg lighter than last summer and it felt easier on the climb but only a PR on the last section.

A quick 2 hour ski between home work for a bit of fresh air. Very very cold. -6C at the car, probably more like -10C at the summit. Not too crowded, just some company groups.

Back in Chamonix, well Argentiere in the cross country area. Morning was spent on fast step turns. The afternoon focussing on climbing and Skate one technique with some fast descending.

Just to show I wasn't tired after the morning's ski de fond a little afternoon hooning around the pistes of Allevard. Not busy.

General DescriptionNestled at the foot of the Argentière glacier and the legendary Aiguille Verte, Argentière is the home of some legendary mountain guides. Its baroque style church is remarkable.

Allevard was fully open but not many people around, maybe the effect of Covid although suggestions that people were arriving today rather than Saturday for the holiday week. Not sure why.

It was slow going getting to the ski area this am and a big scrum for tickets. The lifts seemed to be opening and closing a bit randomly too.
