Description

From the village of the Poingt Ravier (1646m), head west to the Fouche huts(2100m). Pass just to the north of the the Crey du Meigno to reach the pas de Pertuité (2527m). From there, continue west to the summit which is clearly visible in front. The final 300m are quite steep (35/40°),

Descend to the Pertuité then ski the north east slopes to the Clot Albanel. At around 2100 meters turn south-east to rejoin the route below the Fourche huts.

Variants

Instead of climbing to the Fourche huts head straight west in a large valley to les Ramées (2070m) then turn north west to the Clot de l'Ane (2200) and the summit. Descend by the same route. Note the passage under the Crey du Meigno after "les Soledes" (1888m) requires care. You can also climb to the Col des Masses ou Pas de l'Ane (2711m) by this route.

Conditions

Be careful about purges on the final climb to the Grande Chible (south-east facing slope catches the sun early). Possible corniches on the Crey du Meigno. Crampons, axe may be useful depending on the conditions.
