I'd seen that le Sappey was open at the weekend and they'd prepared the Emeindras climb. I'd sooner have something a bit flatter for a lunch skate but given that le Sappey is only 20 minutes from town it would allow a few extra ski minutes compared to the Col de Porte. The snow was surprisingly slippy on the climb but a mixture of sticky (in the sun) and hard (in the shade) on the descent. You needed to be a bit careful.
There is only 10-15cm at the base so it won't last long although the fresh snow on Wednesday may get them through to next weekend. Other pistes looked passable but have they suffered the dreadful zombie walkers?
Weather: 9C in the valley, warm and sunny.
