Vertical Climbed: 1,070 meters (3,511 feet)
Avalanche Risk: 2
Snowline: 1,240
Spotting a short weather window on Sunday morning I called Luc to see if he wanted to do a quick Chamechaude. In the end old friend Maxime also joined us and we met up with Rob who was doing 4 ascents today. Luc was not on great form, lack of training and I had a cold and was tired having just got back from holiday. There was not much snow at the teleski car park but generally good from 1300m. The summit was completely snow free, there was a meter on the 10th April, my previous visit.
We skied via the avalanche protection. Excellent snow. 15cm of fresh powder on a firm but not icy base. After skiing by the Folatiere rock outcrop we reskiing and climbed with Rob to the Breche Arnaud then skied via the Rabbits Pass which Max and Luc didn't know then down through the woods to the ski slopes.
Route Taken: Descent by the avalanche protection then the Rabbits' Pass
Weather: Warm, 5C at the carpark. Cloud see and high level clouds.
