Description

The snow cover is thin below 1600 m so this seemed like a good plan to go powder hunting on north and west slopes. In fact the power was in the NW->W sector, the N slopes having been scoured by the foehn on Monday. Ridgelines were also hardpack with patchy cover on southern slopes below 2000m. Great conditions on the ski down to the Chalets de Merdaret but it lacks a bit of slope and in the Combe de Leatel with good cover in the rock gardens. The path that brings you back to the 7 laux is pretty narrow but not particularly exposed. Returned via the pistes in darkness with no headlamp - like skiing in cloud.

Route Taken: As topo but I didn't have time for the Roche Noire.

Weather: Sunny. Little wind. +6C at 1800m.

Access: Clear.
