Vertical Climbed: 630 meters (2,067 feet)
From the Col du Coq parking 150 meters before the col itself climb the path to the Col des Ayes then take a zig-zag path below the cliffs of the Dent de Crolles.
Follow the path to the south-east below the cliffs to find a weakness in the cliff walks. Climb a small gorge that opens onto a terrace. Climb up to a small step followed by another traverse then a scramble up past the Oeille - a large obelisk. Take care not to dislodge stones on those climbing below.
Comments on route: The principle section is below the Pas de l'oeille. A cable allows a small step to be climbed but the rocks are very polished in places making things slippy.
Access: Grenoble > between Saint Ismier and Bernin take the D30 signposted Saint Pancrasse. After a tunnel take a left to the Col du Coq. The road is close after the village of le Baure in winter.
Equipment: Good hiking shoes. Crampons for the Pas de l'Oeille when there is snow on the ground.
