Description

From the Reservoirs of the Fontaine Bonnet on the St Nazaire -> St Hilaire road follow the Chemin de la Communeaux unsurfaced road downhill for a couple of hundred meters. A wide path leads off to the left, this is the Champ Bertin trail. Take this for 100m, as the path starts to climb steeply take a single to the right by the edge of a field. Follow this to the Pierre de Champ Bertin. Watch out for climbers, ropes etc, circle round this very big rock to the other side and follow a trail marked with some red fluo paint to the east through the woods. There are three technical sections with rock or tree root steps and some steeper pitches.

Just before the track rejoins the Ch. de Champ Bertin it plunges into a trench. At the bottom of this trench turn sharp right to follow a narrow single through some bushes (including brambles) to join the Chemin de la Ruine.

Comments on route: The first technical section can be difficult if it is wet or humid.

Access: From Grenoble take the St Nazaire les Eymes exit then the road towards St Hilaire du Touvet
