Twelve Polish skiers rescued from Mt Blanc
Twelve Polish ski mountaineers, trapped since Tuesday by bad weather in the small Vallot refuge (4 362 meters) were rescued today during a short break in the bad weather.

Serac Fall kills 4 Skiers on Mt Blanc
Five skiers were caught in a Serac fall on Saturday at around 4,000 meters in the sector above the Grands Mulets refuge in the Mont Blanc massive. The skiers were a group of four Austrians and a French legionnaire who appeared to have joined the group to cover classic access route to the mountain.

Catastrophic Ski Season for the Alpes Maritimes
The Alpes Maritimes ski stations, faced by a lack of snow, have had one of their worst winter seasons for 10 years and, according to initial estimates, have suffered a drop in visitors to the order of 30 to 40 percent.

Resort Worker killed in Freak Accident
A resort worker was killed early on Friday morning in the Cote de Deux Mille ski area near Villard de Lans in the Vercors massif. The accident followed a party for pisteurs and season workers in a mountain restaurant.

Missing Val d’Isère skiers found dead
The bodies of the remaining five skiers were recovered in Val d’Isère today. They had been skiing the popular off piste itinerary: the tour du Charvet. The skiers had been hit by a large avalanche near the exit from a narrow valley. They were buried to a depth of 6 meters.

1 dead 5 missing in Val d’Isère Avalanche
A search for five missing skiers from the Lyon in France will resume tomorrow in the Manchet valley in a zone at 2,100 meters altitude after the body of one of the missing had been located at nightfall.

Two die in Arcs Avalanche
An avalanche killed two skiers close to the piste in Les Arcs at 13h40 yesterday. The skiers were part of two groups, one of four skiers and the other of eight who were off-piste in the Grand Col sector of les Arcs. The avalanche was between 2700 - 2800 meters altitude and caught four skiers. Two were rescued alive.
