Val d’Isère ski guide and avalanche expert Henry Schniewind is extending his avalanche talks to off piste mecca Ste Foy from this Wednesday (11th January evening. The talk, which was revised for the 2006 season, features videos, photos, local images and current conditions to make the presentation both practical and entertaining. It covers the basics of how the snowpack becomes stable or unstable along with an investigation of Hazard Evaluation, Route Selection, Search and Rescue etc.
The talk begins at 18h00 every Wednesday through the season. The venue is currently the “Salle Hors Sacs” near the lift pass office but this may be subject to change. Ste Foy is a classic off-piste resort and anyone holidaying there and doing any of the routes would benefit from Henry’s talk.
