Snowboarder Killed by Windslab

A 27 year old snowboarded was killed by an avalanche he set off on Tuesday afternoon above Villard-Roger in the Savoie department.

The victim was skiing some way from a group of friends at 2000 meters altitude when he was caught by a windslab avalanche, triggered by the boarder himself, about 500 meters in length. The boarder was equipped with an avalanche beacon and was quickly found by rescuers but he was buried by 2 meters of heavy now. He went into cardiac arrest during the rescue operation and could not be revived.
