The body of a man found on Thursday afternoon in the vicinity of the Chapelle-en-Valgaudémar area close to the ski resort of Orcières-Merlette in the Hautes-Alpes department has been confirmed as that of missing Gendarme Jean-Marc Bonneau.
Mr Bonneau, a member of the Gendarmerie Mobile had been working in the ski resort when he was reported missing on the 13th of April after going skiing off-piste. Despite a large search at the time no trace was found of the skier. It appears that Mr Bonneau had fallen several hundred meters.
