Henry’s Avalanche Talks do Méribel

Val d’Isère based ski instructor and avalanche expert Henry Schniewind is extending his famous weekly avalanche talks to Méribel for the 2005-2006 season. The established Tuesday Introduction and Thursday In-depth talks in Val d’Isère will remain along with daytime beeper training. Henry recently won recognition from the French National Avalanche Research Association (ANENA) when he was invited to a conference to explain to avalanche educators, guides, piste directors and security his highly successful format.

The Méribel talk follows the ‘Classic’ format of videos, photos, local images and current conditions to make the presentation both practical and entertaining. It covers the basics of how the snowpack becomes stable or unstable along with an investigation of Hazard Evaluation, Route Selection, Search and Rescue etc.

The talk will be held every Monday during the season at 18h00 in Pizza Express which is above Dick’s T-Bar.

The place, dates and times for the Talks in Val d’Isère will are: Introduction Talks Tuesday at 18.00 €5 and In-Depth Talks (free entry if you came on Tuesday) will be on Thursday at 18.00 @ Dick’s Tea Bar. The Talks last just under 90 minutes including a break in the middle including a question and answer session at the end.
