German Ski Mountaineer Injured by Snow Slide

Two ski mountaineers were injured by a snow and rock slide while descending ladders from the Pilate Refuge in the Ecrins National Park close to Briançon today.

The accident occured in the early afternoon at around 2600 meters altitude.  One of the skiers, a German aged 48, suffered injuries to the head and chest and had to be heliported to the la Tronche hospital in Grenoble by the CRS (Compagnie Républicaine Sécurité).
