Body of Snowshoer Found at Orcières
The body of a 59 year old snowshoer who had been missing for ten days has been found. Christian Descotes had left his home at Pont-du-Fossé in the Hautes-Alpes department to make snowshoe tour close to the ski resort of Orcières.
His car was found in one of the carparks at the ski resort. His body was found yesterday morning covered in blocks of ice at the foot of a frozen waterfall identified as the “Saut du Laire” at 2000 meters altitude .
Last spring the area saw a extensive search for a missing Gendarme who was working in the resort. The body of Jean-Marc Bonneau, who had been ski touring, was finally discovered two months after he had fallen to his death.
