This message about a missing ski mountaineer came from our colleagues at Bivouak.net, maybe someone from the English speaking world was touring near the Argentière refuge this weekend and saw something that might help?
“My brother (Guillaume Laurent) was in the mountains last weekend. After a problem with his ski bindings he left his climbing partners with the intention of climbing back to the Argentière refuge, it was 7pm but they were very close. His plan was to repair his binding and return to Chamonix on Monday morning. He never made it.”
“The rescue services have found no trace of him returning to the refuge. If you were in the area on Sunday or Monday please let us know. My brother is 23 years old, athletic build, 1m75, he was wearing black trousers and a blue-marine jacket. His skis are white Dynastar Intuitiv and he had a yellow and black Grivel sack. The search operation has stopped and the strong winds have wiped out any tracks and covered over any possible holes in snow bridges over crevasses. If you have any information about my brother please let us know.”
