The canton of la Grave has been invaded by a plague of rats. They are no threat to the ski lift but the local farmers are asking for help as the rodents eat everything they find in their path.
The rats have been heading up the valley from la Grave to Villar d’Arène and the alpine garden at the Col du Lauteret is threatened. A ditch with grill is being dug to protect this research site at an estimated cost of 15-20 thousand euros.

I thought in La Grave live only freeriders and off-piste skiers/snowboarders but not anymore.
The rodents are going to have a tough time when/if they reach the higher grounds.
Deffinitely they will not reach/survive the top heights of above 3000m.
I hope not

What the alpine garden at the col du Lauteret needs is a couple of poorly fed cats.
Like you I would think they would have trouble on glaciated terrain.
