The 100 meters on the tongue of the glacier Blanc, which were protected by stone cover, have become detached from the glacier. The orphaned ice will now melt away.

This year the glacier has lost 80cm of depth. Since 1986 the glacier has lost 620 meters, around 25 meters a year.
