We are now running Pistehors using a Content Delivery Network. This basically distributes the content to servers in your country for faster access and less load on our main server. However you may see one or two errors. We corrected a Javascript but this morning. You may also be challenged by a “captcha” if the CDN thinks you are a robot rather than a real person.

lets us know if you see any issues, as it is the summer we hope this is a good time to test this.

Hey David,

I’m curious about the level of traffic you see which makes running a CDN necessary. The geo-efficiency of CDN is not under question, but is load so high that local distribution is necessary?

A couple of points for the CDN, it will help reduce latency for far flung parts of the planet, like England (the server is in the Eastern USA). It also does some security stuff as spam in all its forms has been a major headache.

Traffic is currently around 10,000 page views per day, so that’s what, about 420 requests per hour, not much to tax even a puny server. That can rise to around 30,000 pv/day in February.
